Hurricane Sandy did a significant amount of damage to the tri-state area. Thousands of people flooded out of their homes and large power outages throughout the area, this is expected to last for the next week or so! Sadly tragedy was also reported.
Minimal damage here compared to other areas. In our development we mostly saw down trees and roof shingles blown off.
My next door neighbors house.
The weeping willow in our backyard.
The next few pictures are from Fox 5 news.
I've lived in NY all my life and I've never seen so much damage and devastation caused by a storm!
After all the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy, look what we woke up to this morning!
Such a large area of the country was affected by Hurricane Sandy, please keep them all in your thoughts and prayers.
Praying your all safe!

always a rainbow after the rain.
stay safe Martina and thanks for letting us know ya'll are ok..
We were all praying hard for those of you on the East Coast. I'm so glad you are safe, I didn't know what kind of news we would wake up to. These pictures are just heart wrenching. Amazing that you woke up to a rainbow!
XO,
Jane
I'm so glad that you posted about this today. I was wondering how you fared. Glad that you didn't experience devestating damage. A few roof shingles and a tree can easily be replaced. When I was watching the news this morning, several anchors reported seeing that beautiful rainbow you're showing. I think it was a welcome sight to many!
Martina, glad to know that you and your family are safe, and only sustained minimal damage! The pictures are just shocking.
OMG!! This is awful, I'm so sad for my home town NY, but I'm so happy my family there and in NJ are fine and safe, except for heavy winds and some fallen trees. Praying for the people that have lost a lot. I've never seen anything as tragic like this happen in NY, I never thought hurricanes went to the East coast!
Keep safe and I love your picture from this morning Martina.

So glad you are all OK. I saw that rainbow this morning on Good Morning America. Incredible.
Glad you're safe and sound. Beautiful rainbow!
I'm up in Canada in the very Southern part of Ontario. Our house is still being rocked by these crazy winds, but I think it's starting to slow down just a bit now. We lost a lot of shingles off of our roof too, but that's about it so far. So glad you're all OK! That rainbow is a great thing to wake up to after all of that scary stuff.
Glad you are safe, Martina. I was worried about you and others.
So glad you made it through with minimal damage, Martina. Thankfully we were spared damage and power outage outside of D.C. as well.

I'm so happy that you and your family are safe and sound! I can't believe NYC either.
I talked to my son this morning and they came thur it fine...thank goodness!
So glad you and your family are safe. Sorry about your tree. Weeping Willows are my favorite. I bet it was nice to wake up to the rainbow after such a crazy night. Unbelievable all the damage the hurricane caused. Praying for everyone that was affected.
My goodness, Martina. You were certainly spared the worst of it- and even your neighbor's house is not too bad compared to what we are seeing on the news. Lovely rainbow-God's promise to us- xo Diana
Thankful to God you are safe. I have been praying and I confess worried a lot. {{{hugs}}} Olive
I thought you would be without power. Glad to see y'all were spared.
Hello Martina, Thank you for letting us know how you fared. It was dreadful to see the devastation unfurling on the English news this morning. I'm so pleased the effect on you was very small and that you are alright. My heart goes out to the people who have lost their lives, their homes and their livlihoods. It's such a tradgedy. We are thinking of you all. Take Care, Daphne
Glad you're okay! Thoughts and prayers go out to you.
Martina, I'm so glad you're safe and don't have too much damage. Our son and his family are near Atlantic City and still don't have power either. Hugs and prayers for your family and neighbors.

The rainbow is a sign that even though things look devasting right now, they will get better! I am happy to hear that you escaped unharmed with minimal damage. Thanks for letting us know.
Glad to hear that you are safe and suffered little damage. I lived in Florida for many years and saw first hand the effects of a hurricane. I am praying for all of those who have lost homes and lives.
Hugs,
Penny
I am so glad you came out relatively unscathed. I pray for all those who sustained damage and losses. The roof shingles blown off is a shame. I actually thought it sounded like we were losing shingles last night but we didn't!!! The news pictures are unbelievable. XO, Pinky
glad you are ok. is that a pool at your neighbor's house or standing water?
It's so good to know you are okay, Martina! The rainbow is truly breathtaking!
So glad you fared OK, Martina! The rainbow is beautiful and a wonderful reminder of God's love even in the midst of the tragedy. I have been praying for everyone along the east coast and those up into Canada too. Such devastation! Thanks for the update.

Oh, Martina, I was wondering how you were and so glad you're safe! This storm has been so terrifying. My daughter and her family live in upstate, Niskayuna. She says they're fine. I'm glad no more happened than it did to your lovely home and grounds.

So glad to hear that your family is safe and your damage was minimal. We were truly blessed that the storm bypassed us in SC this time but saddened by all of the devastation in your area. Praying for those who suffered loss and damage.
It is hard to fathom the damage that has been done by Sandy. Our daughter was in Manhattan for an engagement party over the weekend. She got out on the last flight on Sunday. The rest of the west coast contingent is still there. My prayers are that the clean up will be timely for all the displaced people.
So glad to hear your family and home are all safe. My heart goes out to those less fortunate! x Sharon
