Miss Mackenzie is turning thirteen this year and I guess with entering the teenage years comes a room makeover!
It's not only going to include a new paint color for the walls but for the furniture too...starting with her armoire. This was one of my first pieces of furniture that I painted.
We're thinking of going with a black distressed look. Here's some of our inspiration pics.
These I found under Google images...
This next piece is one of Miss Mustard Seeds. Love the black and white!
Love this armoire from Down to Earth Style!
This next piece was a pine hutch Delores from Vignette Design had painted and distressed black. Love how she painted the inside a cream color for contrast! Another piece I just love!
I can't wait to get started on this project!!
She wants an all white room, so having a white back drop I think a black armoire would look great! What do you think?

It sounds like a fun project Martina.
Sounds like you'll have a lot of fun redecorating your daughter's room! Can't wait to see the transformation. A black armoire will look beautiful against a white backdrop.

I love the idea!! With a few other black accents it won't look harsh at all.....
Love all your inspiration pictures, Martina! I had to laugh because I am going the opposite way with an armoire in our guest room. I had painted it black a couple of years ago and added some wood embellishments to the doors. Here in our new place, I keep thinking it would look so much better white. So it's on the list to get done this year.
Oh yes Martina it will be beautiful! I too am changing my daughters room.I guess it must be the age!

Oh, you just reminded me how much I like a great black piece! I'm loving the distressed pieces and I think the black would be a great choice for the room. You could add such fun hardware, also, either some fun color or glass knobs would be gorgeous.

Hi Martina! Oh I know you're going to have fun with this project. The black sounds good.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia :)
the black is going to make it really stand out!
What fun! I remember when my daughter was younger, she wanted her iron bed repainted black. We did, and it looked great. Saw your comment on Blondie's Journal and thought I'd drop by.
Can't wait to see what you decided, leave it white or paint it black:) I love the paisley print on the chair in the last photo.
Sounds very sophisticated. Can't wait to see what you do with the room.
I love black painted furniture. Can't wait to see it.

Well if you do the black distressed theme I know I'm gonna love it!
We redid daughter #2's room when she was 13 as a surprise. She came back from horse camp to a room redo and has loved it ever since. It's time again though.

Wow,thirteen! I love the grown-up look you are going for!

Sounds like a good idea to me! I love black and white anyway. I have a black computer cabinet in my kitchen that has white walls. It's a classic look that won't look dated. I bet her room is going to turn out nice when you're through with it!
Martina, I think black will be a fun new pop. I love all of your inspiration. Can't wait to see it finished.
hugs,
Jann

It will be beautiful! I painted an old dresser black about 12 years ago and it is a staple in our home.
