Taking a clock from... Traditional to Country French

I've had this clock for almost 20 years. In our old house and this house it was always hung in the living room.
As much as I still love the look of it this way, with my style and taste changing over the years I felt it too needed a change.
So down it came, and out came the paint brush and chalk paint!

I used French Linen on the entire clock and Old White on all the detailed parts, along with waxing it with both the clear and dark wax.

I dry brushed some Old White on the inside. I really like this look.

On the columns along the side I used an artists brush to highlight the grooves.

It fits my living room so much better now. I love the new look!

                     One more before & after
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great week!

The clock looks wonderful with it's new colors!! I've been thinking of getting some French Linen so I was really happy to see all your photos. :)

Your clock is absolutely gorgeous now! I love the new look that you have given it. Perhaps I should do something with the clock that I have that is somewhat like that. I feel so bad that it's just sitting in storage.
Have a wonderful day.
Hugs, Cindy

I love the new look, it is amazing how a little paint can change the whole look for the better:)

It's like getting a brand new clock, isn't it? It turned out great, Martina! I painted a mantel clock that we had {picked up at a Florida flea market some years ago} shortly after we moved last year. Painting it black from the oak it was gave it a whole new feel. I love the French Linen, too. I think it's one of my favorites in the chalk paint colors.

I love it! I've been known to paint a clock myself a time or two. It's such a great way to give it a fresh new look. The grey color looks great in that room.

Painting the clock increased its value by $100 in my opinion. I put down my paint brush to read blogs so now I'm going to round up a clock and get busy!

Patti @ Pandoras Box said...

Oh, I really like the results! It is making me walk around my home and think of some changes I could make! And something else that caught my eye was the cute little table under the clock with the fern on it - adorable!

This is beautiful! I love it! I was just looking at clocks online last night and was thinking how none of them had that French Country look, your clock certainly does. The colors are perfect, so soft and French looking. Thank you for visiting my blog. I look forward to getting to know you better. You have a wonderful blog!

This really turned out well, Martina! The dry brushing of the white on the gray does add another dimension to the finish and makes it look Frenchy. :-)

Yes, Martina, a perfect solution! I am finally getting in the frame of mind that if you don't like it, paint it! It's better to still cherish what you have than to be slightly dissatisfied. Now you have me thinking about the antique clock that is sitting in my closet. It has great bones... just needs a new lease on life!

Undeniably imagine that which you said. Your favourite justification appeared to be on the
internet the simplest factor to remember of.

I say to you, I certainly get annoyed whilst folks consider concerns that they
just don't realize about. You controlled to hit the nail upon the top as neatly as outlined out the entire thing with no need side effect , people can take a signal. Will likely be back to get more. Thank you
