Turning a coffee table into an ottoman

 Hi there friends...
Today I'm showing you how I turned our family room coffee table into a very comfy ottoman!
After purchasing the new sofa I mentioned how I was on the hunt for a new coffee table...I was leaning towards an older piece.
Then I started to think of maybe a large ottoman...much more comfy to put your feet up on and relax.

Here's the before...
Mom to the rescue again...she suggested this coffee table would be perfect to turn into an ottoman...it was just the right size!
And with help from my friend Linda that's exactly what we did!
I decided to use the plaid fabric I used on some pillows in here. I sent Linda the measurements along with the fabric and she made this fabulous slipcover for it.
My mom and I added a 2inch foam piece to the top and then wrapped it with this quilted batting and stapled it to the table top. Then we wrapped the batting around the entire table and stapled that.
When the slipcover came it fit perfectly!
I love how she pleated the corners.
I picked up a solid fabric for the pipping to break up the plaid.
Isn't this a sweet pillow...she made it using all the left over fabric...super talented I look forward to working with Linda again!
I'm so happy with the way this project turned out!!

Here's a little peek at what I'm working on in the master bedroom.
Hopefully I'll get the room painted on Monday!

Martina. That is just perfect. I love a big ottoman in front of a sofa. That is what I have in our family room and I use a tray on it to hold drinks and magazines. I love the way yours turned out. That piping really adds a nice touch, too. LOVING that little pillow she did for you, too, xo Diana

Love it, Martina! The pillow is so cute too and perfect with the ottoman. Ahh why did I take theater instead of home economics in high school. All I can do now is be dramatic about not being able to sew!

I have thought about doing this to my coffee table in our living room since more feet sit on it than coffee! Great job, great idea from mom and great friend you have in Linda!
