Last week I showed you all my new lamp that I found in Home Goods and I said how lucky I've been finding such pretty lamps there. Well I thought I'd show you all the lamps that came home with me in the last year. I don't know what it is they just find there way into my cart!!
Added a PB burlap shade to this one.
My newest find.
Love the base on this one.
Now I couldn't leave this little guy out.
There ya have it, you could say that I have a bit of a lamp obsession! Like I said I can't pass up a pretty lamp, I'll always find a home for it. I know I haven't been posting anything pretty lately but please bare with me:) We're making progress downstairs but still have a lot that needs to get done. I can't wait for things to get back to normal!
Thanks so much for stopping by, Martina

"Shedding New Light" and an Update
Just a little update of where we are today and how much damage was actually done. There was more damage then we thought! This is what my mom's bedroom looks like today and this is where we thought it all started but it wasn't. The water came into my mom's living room and traveled under the wall into her bedroom. That goodness it stopped before making into her walk-in closet. We have dehumidifiers on and they dried it all up. This is a picture of the sub-floor ripped out.
There was a little bit of mold starting, but it was only on the wood that was ripped out.
This is a picture of her living room before the plastic was picked up, you can see the water under it. Having the plastic under the sub-floor is good and bad. It's good because it helped stop the water from traveling farther, but bad because it holds the moisture.
We're lucky it didn't travel into the dining room!
Now onto something a little prettier! With the contractors here there is not much we can do, so my mom and I needed a little out yesterday. I finished picking up the last minute school supplies and then we made a quick stop in Home Goods. In the last year I've been so lucky finding such pretty lamps in their and yesterday was another lucky day for me. Let's take a look at this beauty I found for only $40.
Here's a before picture. Pretty but I wanted something a little bigger.
After
A night shot
I've always had a thing for a pretty lamp, how about you? Thanks so much for stopping by and thank you for all the kind comments and e-mails you've sent on our run in with mother nature. Your support means so much to me:) Martina

An Unexpected Break
Taking the next few weeks off due to an unexpected run in with mother nature!! I had mentioned once before after my dad passed away we had a mother-daughter set up done downstairs for my mom. I love the fact that she is here and my kids get to be with her every day. She is such a big help to me with the kids especially when it's time to drive them around, that could get a little overwhelming but I go one way she goes another!
Hopefully I'll be back soon!!
Martina
Now back to the run in with mother nature. The other day we noticed the rug in the hallway a little wet. When the hubby lifted part of it up he saw it was coming from under the wall near her bedroom. When we had the downstairs finished, the contractor made a sub-floor so her whole apt. wouldn't be on concrete, she would be on plywood like the rest of the house. So now this water is under the sub-floor which means everything has to be moved out of her bedroom and the whole floor has to be ripped up to fix the problem.
That's not all if the water is seeping through the foundation the whole side of our house has to be dug up to fix it correctly so this doesn't happen again. To say I am stressed is an understatement!! I'll be checking in with everyone day to day, you guy's will be the one's to keep me sane! Just won't have time for posting. Please say a prayer for us that the water didn't travel into her other rooms and that there's no mold growing. I'll keep you all updated on our progress. Before I started to write this I went downstairs to take a picture of her pretty bedroom to show you but the hubby had the bed apart already:(
Now I couldn't just leave without throwing in a picture of a small update I did a few days ago:) I had these pictures in my master bath for years. I still really like them just got tired of the gold frames they were in. So out came the paint and glaze and Voila... good as new!

I'm a Copy Cat!
I admit it, I'm a copy cat!! I've had this little suitcase on the floor in my bedroom for sometime and was thinking of getting rid of it until I saw Kim's http://savvysouthernstyle.blogspot.com/ suitcase transformation! I figured I could bring new life to this little guy too.
Here's what I started with.
And here's the after.
Of course I used AS chalk paint. I painted the whole thing in old white and used chateau gray on the stripes. Applied the dark wax and then lightly sanded over the whole thing. I did this project out on my deck and had the whole thing done in an hour.
Carried the stripe across the top.
I'm so glad I didn't get rid of this now! Have a great weekend!! Martina

Better Late then Never
Well I finally got around to it today and changed the wreath on my front door. I've had my forsythia one on since Easter!!! Figured I better put my summer one on before I start decorating for fall, since it's right around the corner!
I bought this boxwood wreath last year in Target and just added the burlap ribbon to it.
Added a few boxwood twigs to my planters.
Well at least it will look like this for a few more weeks.
Now can someone PLEASE tell me how to get these ugly water marks off my dining room table, there driving me nuts! HELP:(
Thanks for stopping by. Hope your all having a great week! Martina

My Roo's are ready to Party!!
My kitchen Roo's are ready to party with the sweet Miss Shelia over at http://notesongs.blogspot.com/ for her Heart of the Home Party! Hope you all join in on the fun!
Here are some of my kitchen Roo's, love this little lamp I found in Home Goods last year.
Another Home Goods find.
These little guys came from Cracker Barrel and are perched above one of the kitchen cabinets.
This guy's my favorite! I bought him at a small shop in Virginia a few years ago.
Now I couldn't let these two feel left out, could I? These guys sit on top of my dining room hutch.
Can't wait to see all your pretty Roo's, so make sure you head on over to http://notesongs.blogspot.com/ and join in on the fun! Thanks for stopping by and have a super week, Martina

It's Framed!
A few weeks ago I showed you guys the new fruit painting I purchased off Etsy. I took it to Hobby Lobby and had a custom frame made for it. They also framed it for me for FREE! Lets take a look.....
I hung it in my dining room right over my other painting.
Here's a close up
WOW it's mid-week already, this summer is going by so fast! Enjoy the rest of your week, Martina
