As much as I still love the look of it this way, with my style and taste changing over the years I felt it too needed a change.
So down it came, and out came the paint brush and chalk paint!
I used French Linen on the entire clock and Old White on all the detailed parts, along with waxing it with both the clear and dark wax.
I dry brushed some Old White on the inside. I really like this look.
On the columns along the side I used an artists brush to highlight the grooves.
It fits my living room so much better now. I love the new look!
One more before & after
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great week!

Wow! What a difference. It looks great Martina!
Beautiful makeover, Martina. Such a huge difference.
The clock looks wonderful with it's new colors!! I've been thinking of getting some French Linen so I was really happy to see all your photos. :)
Your clock is absolutely gorgeous now! I love the new look that you have given it. Perhaps I should do something with the clock that I have that is somewhat like that. I feel so bad that it's just sitting in storage.
Have a wonderful day.
Hugs, Cindy
Great new look, Martina. Love it.
I love the new look, it is amazing how a little paint can change the whole look for the better:)
It's like getting a brand new clock, isn't it? It turned out great, Martina! I painted a mantel clock that we had {picked up at a Florida flea market some years ago} shortly after we moved last year. Painting it black from the oak it was gave it a whole new feel. I love the French Linen, too. I think it's one of my favorites in the chalk paint colors.
Beautiful transformation, Martina!..Christine
Hi Martina,
The clock looks WONDERFUL, I really like the new paint color and you succeeded in making it look Country French, absolutely gorgeous! XO ~Liz
This is really pretty! You are a brave woman!
Love it, Martina!! Love the mix of the two colors! So pretty.
Martina, You really do a nice job when you paint. I love how your finish turned out on the clock, and it really looks good in your room. Isn't it great to feel like you have a whole new piece?

Great new look. I love it. xo, Ron
I love it! I've been known to paint a clock myself a time or two. It's such a great way to give it a fresh new look. The grey color looks great in that room.
Beautiful!! making me look at my 2 with new eyes..
Cheers. Gee

Holy cow, Martina! It looks so much prettier and definitely more French with it's painted look - shows of the bonnet decor on the top. Wowzer! Linda

That was quite a brave thing to do, but it turned out great. I am desperate to paint an antique cupboard but it is quite valuable and I can't decide if I will regret it or not! x Sharon
Your clock looks amazing now. I love how it looks now and the paint colors are perfect!
so glad I found your beautiful blog.
rita
Martina, love it in grey. Grey is one of my favorite colors. I am about to put you on my blog roll so I can keep up with you better. Thanks so much for your comment yesterday. We are getting tropical rains and I am having a pj and blogging day. A perfect day:} hugs, Olive
Painting the clock increased its value by $100 in my opinion. I put down my paint brush to read blogs so now I'm going to round up a clock and get busy!
Oh, I really like the results! It is making me walk around my home and think of some changes I could make! And something else that caught my eye was the cute little table under the clock with the fern on it - adorable!
O'Martina, that turned out beautiful! I just used french linen for the first time the other day on a vanity...I think it turned out right nice.
Nice job!
That is wonderful... love the new look.

YOU ARE A BRAVE WOMAN to paint a clock... and your bravery paid off in a big way! Your clock is just stunning! It has so much character and depth of color.
Thanks for helping us (me) think out of the box!
Love it Martina!
Great new look! My hubby would kill me if I painted on cherry or mahogany.
Hi Martina! OH, what a difference the new color makes. Your clock is so pretty and it does look pretty.
be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
This is beautiful! I love it! I was just looking at clocks online last night and was thinking how none of them had that French Country look, your clock certainly does. The colors are perfect, so soft and French looking. Thank you for visiting my blog. I look forward to getting to know you better. You have a wonderful blog!
This really turned out well, Martina! The dry brushing of the white on the gray does add another dimension to the finish and makes it look Frenchy. :-)
What a great transformation! It's like a whole new clock! So clever!
Martina,
What a great transformation! LOVE,LOVE that color!

Wow!! What a massive difference!!

Yes, Martina, a perfect solution! I am finally getting in the frame of mind that if you don't like it, paint it! It's better to still cherish what you have than to be slightly dissatisfied. Now you have me thinking about the antique clock that is sitting in my closet. It has great bones... just needs a new lease on life!
Such a difference! I want one now!
The new color is wonderful Martina. Beautiful makeover!!
I am lovin' your "new" clock...looks fabulous.
Martina I LOVE it!!
Love the new look, Martina!
that's beautiful! I never would have thought to paint a clock, maybe now I won't pass them by in the thrift store ;)
It's perfect! Thank you for sharing this at my Make it Pretty Monday party at The Dedicated House. Hope to see your prettiness again on Monday. Toodles, Kathryn @TheDedicatedHouse
Undeniably imagine that which you said. Your favourite justification appeared to be on the
internet the simplest factor to remember of.
I say to you, I certainly get annoyed whilst folks consider concerns that they
just don't realize about. You controlled to hit the nail upon the top as neatly as outlined out the entire thing with no need side effect , people can take a signal. Will likely be back to get more. Thank you
