Casual Kid friendly Sitting Room with Grown Up Touches

Finally....... I feel like it took forever to get this room done! Found this sign in Home Goods and thought it was so fitting for in here.
I painted this room last year the color is BM Hush. After it was painted I wasn't diggin the green speckled berber rug anymore. It just got replaced with this low shag one, the color is "Aged Paper" we bought it from Home Depot and boy does it feel good on bare feet! The desk we bought about 4 years ago from a local store, it was on clearance.
This room is where my kids hang out with their friends and my youngest still has some toys in here. This being the room I blog in I added some grown up touches to it and find myself loving to be in here, not sure the kids are happy with me invading their space ;)
All my son's Wii equipment and games are on the shelf and in the baskets. I bought the shelf last year from Ballard.
This little chair my mom found roadside, someone elses trash is our treasure! Victoria loves sitting in it. I'm thinking of painting it white. She just bought the new floor lamp for me too. Thanks mom xo.
Here's the before of the chairs, chest, and rug. The chairs are not my style but worked well for the kids. So when I was looking on Ikea's website one day I noticed they had a chair very similar to these and they sold slipcovers for them. When I measured and saw they would be a perfect fit, I did the happy dance!
So much better! I moved them to this wall for better tv viewing and ordered the matching ottoman. I even changed the lampshade to this linen one I found in Home Goods for $16.
These little lumbar pillows came with the slipcovers and I added the jute ribbon for some color. I used Heat & Bond to attach them. It's an iron-on adhesive that worked like a charm.
I love this desk. It has so many pretty details. This piece will NOT be touched with a paint brush. My husband doesn't believe me, go figure!
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed the tour of our freshened up sitting room. We are enjoying the changes!

Martina, this room really looks beautiful and comfy as well. I can't believe you found slipcovers for the chairs...they're great! I love the desk & I have to agree, no paintbrush needed.

It's Beautiful Martina, The little chair is 40s/50s. I grew UP WITH that chair, minus that set. Ours had a wooden seat. That IS the original color for the chair too...That is a wonderful desk. I LOVE the finish and color! The whole room is pulled together perfectly. Are you sure you want to let the TROOP BACK IN,hehe! Only kidding but I know how that goes!!!
Have a great week,
Donna

Cute room Martina.
Great that you were able to find
slipcovers. Who would have thought

Can you tell me where to buy this.

That sign is adorable...love the room color and the slipcovers I am lusting after. So pretty...just what I wanted for a couple of olden blue chairs but can NOT find any that fit. Yours looks great.

Yes, I do love it! I can't get over your good fortune with finding slipcovers to fit your chairs. They're such a unique shape. Luck, luck, luck! They make ALL the difference. I love white slipcovered furniture anyway. Love your new sign too. So fitting and so cute in the room. I think you've made some great changes to that room. Looking at your new carpet makes me long for new carpet here too. We need to replace ours upstairs so bad.

This looks like a really comfortable room for your family to hang out in, Martina! What luck that those slipcovers fit! I am going to have an upholstered chair to move, probably into our master {got a new chaise/sofa coming} and it will definitely need a slipcover. I'd love to get that lucky!
