a little change

I made a little change to the shelf in my powder room. I had found these two mercury glass pieces in Home Goods over the summer and had planned on using them in the master bath. Well that didn't happen and they wound up in my closet until now.

This is what the shelf looked like before. It actually has been this way since we redid the bathroom almost 2 years ago. So it was definitely ready for a little change!

I was playing around in Picnik with these adding some texture and think they look kind of cool, especially if they were in a matte finish.

Maybe I'll frame them. I don't know what I am going to do when Google drops Picnik!
Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

Martina: Love the shelf. Don't you just love mercury glass? I have some candlesticks and I am in love with them. Yes - I will miss Picnik also.....It is such a friendly user program.

Have a great weekend too!

Great little changes...I would love to get a few pieces of mercury glass. Yours look so classy. I agree about Picnik. I'm devastated. I have looked at Pixlr and it's OK but not as easy as Picnik. Check it out and see what you think. Happy Weekend!

Very pretty, Martina! I love moss balls; you can tuck them in anywhere and they add that little touch of green that I like.

I love the change that the mercury glass made. Why is it that mercury glass goes so well everywhere?

We're all going to miss Picnik something terrible.

Marina, I love the shelf. I don't have any mercury glass but I surely want some now.

Just lovely!

Love the silver and green added. Yes, two years was plenty long enough for the first look.
I have never used Picnik except to add words to a picture. I do all my editing in Picasa.

14 Emily said...

Oh my dear, how I love that silver bowl against the brick with the greenery in it.

I love your changes. I'm like you and hate that Picnik is shutting down. How could they?! I do all my editing with it because it's so user friendly. I am not a person that likes change, so I will be hard pressed to find something that I like better.

I really love the moss in the little silver bowl. Lately I've been noticing how pretty a green plant looks in a silver dish.

Love it all, Martina! I'm so very sad that Picnik is going to shut down! I have even been subscribed to the Deluxe part and now it's going to be gone!
Hope you're having a good weekend.

Love the shelf and the beadboard in your powder room.
The mercury glass looks great on the shelf and I like the green moss orb.
It is always fun to change things up a bit. I am afraid I am a bit remiss about that.
Keep changing things up, I enjoy see what you ladies do.

Ginger

Very pretty. I love mercury glass and have a bowl like that. They are so versatile and work in almost any room.

A little bling using mercury glass is always a good thing! I have some moss and a little bird sitting in one of my own bowls.
I've found several options for Picnik- if you're interested, let me know. The only thing missing from them is the options for those cool frames. But the texture options are available. :-)

I love the texture of the mercury glass with the moss and the starfish up there too. Nice change!

I love the mercury glass! Beautiful vignette.

Try Photoscape. It is free. Takes a little getting used to but I absolutely love the options. I also use Picasa. Both are great for editing. Picasa is easier, but I recommend trying both.

Well I do love the new look! That's just like me to find something, then have it setting around and months go by and finally I integrate it! I love that tassel too! I need something like that for a spot in my bathroom!

I thought it was so pretty the way it was, Martina, but I love it even more with the mercury glass. Especially with the mossy ball added to the mix. Mercury glass is just the best stuff - at least in my book! Take care.

I don't know what I'm going to do without Picnik either, especially for collages. I have tried out every suggested photo editor I can find out about and nothing works as well as Picnik. Its not a happy thats for sure.
Love your post and editing. Nice to visit.

Am I the only one who doesn't use picnik? Have you tried Picassa?

57 Ivy and Elephants said...

I'm with you kid. I am going to have major withdrawal issues once Picnik is gone. Picnik was just wonderful. I loved making collages and it was made making buttons so simple. We shall all grieve together.

On a happier note, I love the mantel. It really has inspired me to do something similar. Thanks for sharing.
