Tour of Mom's Apartment- Part 1

When we were looking to by this house my dad had just passed away. Being the only child I really wanted my mom close by and when we found this house with a full above ground unfinished walkout basement I new it would be perfect to do a mother/daughter set up. So my mom agreed and sold their house which was  to big for one person to live and we had an architect come in and draw up designs that would work the best. When she picked the one she liked, the contractors got right to work. We love the fact she's here with us and I love how my kids can be with her all the time. She does everything with them and those are memories they will always have.
First up, tour of her bedroom. The furniture in here is from when they got married and is 43 years old and still looks brand new. I love this set.

She just changed to her winter bedding.

I really want that little silver teapot lamp but I can't get her to budge!

Her dressers and bed came from Ethan Allen

We had to do a drop ceiling in most of her apt due to pipes. It makes it much easier if we had to get to them. Her kitchen is the only room with a 9ft  sheet rock ceiling.

Well that's it for the bedroom tour. I'll show you her other rooms soon. She is in the process of getting a new couch and chairs, so I will wait until they come in to do the tour of her living rm and dining  rm. I always look forward to our visits.    Thanks so much for stopping by!
                                  Martina
I know I just had the Ramsign giveaway but I'm still going to do another one for hitting my 100th post so stay tuned!

Martina, what a special gift to have your Mom right there with you.

My parents' bedroom set looks very similar! I believe it's about the same age. It's amazing to see the quality of the pieces that were made so many years ago.

Your Mom's bedroom is beautiful!

First off, you are so lucky to have your Mom there with you, and your children will look back with such fond memories of all the time with Grandma.

Her bedroom is beautiful. Is that your Mom & Dad's wedding picture?

My Mom gave me the same silver teapot lamp about 6 years ago - you can't have mine either. (wink)

What a gorgeous room, Martina.

I love the maple furniture. When we were in TN last year, I found several pieces of maple, in pristine condition, in an antique mall. A pair of twin beds, dresser and other pieces. I wish we had come home got the truck and gone back and bought it!!

I love the idea of an apartment for your mother, within your home. Just absolutely wonderful!
