Finally....... I feel like it took forever to get this room done! Found this sign in Home Goods and thought it was so fitting for in here.
I painted this room last year the color is BM Hush. After it was painted I wasn't diggin the green speckled berber rug anymore. It just got replaced with this low shag one, the color is "Aged Paper" we bought it from Home Depot and boy does it feel good on bare feet! The desk we bought about 4 years ago from a local store, it was on clearance.
This room is where my kids hang out with their friends and my youngest still has some toys in here. This being the room I blog in I added some grown up touches to it and find myself loving to be in here, not sure the kids are happy with me invading their space ;)
All my son's Wii equipment and games are on the shelf and in the baskets. I bought the shelf last year from Ballard.
This little chair my mom found roadside, someone elses trash is our treasure! Victoria loves sitting in it. I'm thinking of painting it white. She just bought the new floor lamp for me too. Thanks mom xo.
Here's the before of the chairs, chest, and rug. The chairs are not my style but worked well for the kids. So when I was looking on Ikea's website one day I noticed they had a chair very similar to these and they sold slipcovers for them. When I measured and saw they would be a perfect fit, I did the happy dance!
So much better! I moved them to this wall for better tv viewing and ordered the matching ottoman. I even changed the lampshade to this linen one I found in Home Goods for $16.
These little lumbar pillows came with the slipcovers and I added the jute ribbon for some color. I used Heat & Bond to attach them. It's an iron-on adhesive that worked like a charm.
I love this desk. It has so many pretty details. This piece will NOT be touched with a paint brush. My husband doesn't believe me, go figure!
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed the tour of our freshened up sitting room. We are enjoying the changes!

After doing the dreaded grocery shopping the other day I made a quick stop in our local antique shop and picked up a few more leather books. Since our sitting room has been going through some changes I figured I'd change up the vignette on the self on my desk. This room is really the hangout place for my kids and their friends, but I wanted to add a few grown up touches since this is where I sit and blog (which means I am in here quite often)!!
I've had these dogs since my childhood. The wire haired terrier is the dog we had growing up.
I really liked the cover on these three.
Thanks so much for stopping by, I look forward to our visits! We hit 80 here in NY yesterday and it's suppose to be like that for the next few days. Lovin it!!

My mom had this little table just sitting in a closet, and it was begging me to take it out and give it some attention! Do you have pieces that talk to you too? She wasn't going to use it anymore so I took it off her hands ( I'm kind like that) LOL. I'm using it in our little sitting room. I'm almost done with the changes that have been made in their, just waiting on a few things then I'll have the reveal. I've been dying to try AS Arles and I thought this was the perfect little piece to try it on.
Before..
This came the Bombay Co. years ago.
Here's her new look..
You guy's are even getting a little peek at the new rug and white slipcovers I bought for the chairs that were in here.
This color looks great when it's sanded and the waxes are applied. She's very happy to be getting some attention again :) Have a super week!
