This fern in the metal plant stand is a faux but it looks so real.
This next one is my favorite. It is a weeping pussy willow plant and can be used inside or planted outside.
Another faux fern in my living room that I bought in Hobby Lobby, I think this one is going to be replaced with a real one.
This little plant they use in fairy gardens(I have no clue what that is)! I liked it and thought it would look good in my blue and white bowl. The man in the nursery said it gets like a mound and will hang over the edges as it grows.
I've had this one for over a year and I'm constantly trimming it.
A little more faux in the concrete urn.
and... in the ceramic pot.
Faux in the copper bucket, but this just got replaced with a real fern. Let's hope it lasts!
This is a succulant of some sort. I love the way it looks in the pottery.
This last one needs a haircut badly, but I like the way it cascades down the wall. I've had this one for years.
So, what do you prefer live or faux? I'd love to hear!

Oh I love the real, but I kill them. I can't grow a fern, just don't know what the problem is. I can grow just plain ole' ivy, so that's all the real I have. Love all of yours, hope that fern grows. You have some beautiful pots. Hugs, Marty
Love the plant in the blue and white bowl. I need some of that. I just threw out a succulent like yours that never did well. Yours looks great.
I only use real plants but I have seen some beautiful faux plants!
Martina- I have almost an identical post in my "lineup." Your plants look great and I love that you tried new plants! Thanks for sharing!

Hi Martina! You have some lovelies. I have a few live plants and they do pretty well. I think the one you said is in lots of fairy gardens is called 'baby tears'. I've had some outside and it's so dainty.
Love your pretty snaps.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Your plants are lovely Martina. I love the weeping one. I prefer real any day, now if only I can keep them alive.
Love all your plants, but I prefer the real.
Hi Martina,
I use to only have live plants in my home. I found my boys liked to dig in the dirt and add worms to the soil. lol
I have slowly been adding faux plants. Your home is a great example on how beautiful they are. I love the planters you used too.
Dee
All of your plants and containers look great! You've got some pretty ones. I usually use fake plants inside just because they're easier and last forever, but try to find ones that look real. Obviously, real plants are always best if you can keep them alive! Ha!
Your plants are lovely. I love real plants, but here in the Bahamas our homes get so hot in the summer they don't last for very long. While on vacation once, it got so hot in my house the leaves on my silk tree started falling off (LOL). Never knew that could happen.
While I prefer to use real plants, I too have some fakes (ferns included) as I just can't seem to keep a fern alive, and I love them! Plants (faux or real) add so much to a space!
I love both of them. I prefer real ones when I have an area that will support them with light. I used to have a LOT of faux plants but have kind of pared them down over the years and replaced them with real ones. I love the way greenery dresses up a home. xo Diana
They're all beautiful and love all the spots where you put them, Martina. I have a pussy willow tree too and I love it....Christine

I prefer real but then there is that keeping them alive problem---
In better economic times I had a housekeeper and I had to tell her to stop watering my fake plants. So I guess they must have looked pretty real! Back then I used to buy fake plants from Home Interiors.
I love your plants...I think they make a house a home. I have a few real, but it's a lot of work to keep them watered and re~pot them when they get big. Since my house is so small, I don't bother with the faux, although some are really nice!
XO,
Jane
My plants with the exception of my fresh flowers are all faux.I do better with outdoor plants. And I have a cat so I have to watch what I bring in.I love all of your selection faux and real. You also have some really nice planters too.I love the selection.

Hi darling, I'm just now adding live plants back inside. I haven't had them for years. The new faux all look so real it's hard not to add them in for convenience.. hugs ~lynne~
When you see ferns growing naturally it's always in cool, shady areas with good air circulation...not the environment we have in our homes. So I gave up years ago and have been happily living with faux ferns. They are easy to clean outside with the water hose when they become dusty.
You faux ferns are mighty pretty and besides you'll never have to think of watering.
Very clever - I have been moving away from faux for some time - my husband is the plant guy around here - but there are certain spots that are just hard to get to and/or grow (lighting, water requirements, etc.) so a little faux works well. Thanks Martina and thank you for your frequent stop-bys.
Gerrie
I'm faux:( although I love real! I have one real plant and thank goodness it doesn't require a whole lot of attention....poor thing!
I'm with you! I can't keep a plant alive either. But you are doing a great job with yours. I have bought more live plants lately and amazingly they are staying alive. I get excited over that as much as a person would to see one grow. My main goal is that it doesn't die! lol
Pretty photos!
I have all real and keep them in windows in my studio however i love the faux plants
they look great to me
All your plants look great Martina! I don't have any plants inside. Used to have a couple of Peace Lilies, but grew tired of watering them as there are so many on our porch, deck and basement patio that need watering. I do have faux flowers and branches from the yard, though.
I have to use faux inside....just can't keep them alive or healthy...but I do like real...
Your plants are beautiful!!! I don't have a green thumb so no advice for you. I love that Pussy Willow plant...it is very pretty!
~Des
Lovely containers and pretty plants...real or faux! Sadly, I must do all faux indoors since my staff has a tendency to "sample" the real ones! Happy week!...hugs...Debbie
Hi Martina!
I love both but I can't keep them alive either, so I buy the best that I can in Faux! I do buy Bosten Ferns to hang outside and they always do well every summer. Yours look great and the pottery is beautiful that you use!
I have some of each. Our last house had a sunroom that was the perfect place for plants. I had orchids, poinsettias that re-bloomed without doing anything to them -- it was pretty amazing. Our new home doesn't have a sunroom (yet...lol) and not many windows with the right light. Plants seem to like our bathroom, but I really prefer my lovely big tub not looking like a jungle. A couple of things I've learned about houseplants -- they do really well in north or east-facing windows, & a water meter is your best friend. Most problems arise from over-watering, especially with ferns.

So lovely! I love the mix of real and faux. I do the same thing. As for ferns, I've never had any luck with them until I began buying them for my screen porch. Nice shade there, and I mist them every day and water most days. I don't attempt to bring them in for winter, as they are too messy for me.
I love real, but I can't seen to keep indoor plants alive...so I love a good fake~
Hi martina,
All your plants look beautiful. I use both! I love the pussy willow.
Kathy
I use a mix of real and faux also Martina! It is a lot of work to keep them all alive but in some spots real is the only way to go. Ferns are definitely harder to keep alive though! Everything looks so lovely in your home and that pussy willow is my favorite. :-)
Vanessa
I do believe you have successfully combined both the real and the faux. I love anything in the willow family and all hanging plants. Diane
I'm partial to live and you have a great selection here. The weeping pussy willow is my fave. Beautiful mounding one in the blue and white too.
I prefer real plants, however, let's face it - you have to do what works. Ferns do best outside. That's just the way it is. I have them on my porch and they like lots of water and enjoy humidity. There are lots of other plants that do well inside....
peace lily, pothos, Christmas cactus, etc., but ferns go outside. Your faux ferns look great inside and they don't shed like live ferns do. That's my 2 cents! Linda
I kill all of my live plants, so I have to say faux, if I have any, which I don't.
Hugs, Cindy
You have your plants displayed so beautifully. I love live plants, but I have a tendency to be neglectful, so faux works too.
I love faux plants - IKEA has some excellent real looking ones :)

Hi Martina, I too love ferns but they only seem to last a few months for me. Thanks goodness I have an ivy and Rosemary that do fab. I have a few faux plants but prefer live. Love the little pussy willow. Where did you find such a mini one? I've only seen large ones for outdoors. I have a new link party, Share Your Cup Thursday. I would love you to share this!
Hugs,
Jann
I prefer real to faux but have to confess having a few faux plants around. They are are so easy - just a bit of dusting every now and then. The little fairy garden plant you refer to is called "peace in the home" in South Africa. Have a lovely weekend. x Sharon
Thank you for posting this. It’s exactly what I was looking for!
