I'm a Copy Cat!

I admit it, I'm a copy cat!! I've had this little suitcase on the floor in my bedroom for sometime and was thinking of getting rid of it until I saw Kim's http://savvysouthernstyle.blogspot.com/ suitcase transformation! I figured I could bring new life to this little guy too.

                                                    Here's what I started with.

                                       And here's the after.

Of course I used AS chalk paint. I painted the whole thing in old white and used chateau gray on the stripes. Applied the dark wax and then lightly sanded over the whole thing. I did this project out on my deck and  had the whole thing done in an hour.

Carried the stripe across the top.

I'm so glad I didn't get rid of this now! Have a great weekend!!  Martina

Hi Martina,
That is so pretty!!! I have one kind of like that, it makes me wonder if I could do it without the AS paint...maybe not.

Hi! I saw your wonderful transformation at the Metamorphosis Monday blog party...just wonderful! Hey, one of the reasons I GOT a blog was to find projects TO copy cat...probably other folks did to. Imitation is the highest form of flattery...Yours looks great.

That is so cute Martina! You are so creative and so is Kim!

I wanted to tell you that I just got back from visiting my best friend in Palm Springs. We were shopping (of course!) and she bought a birdcage just like the one I won from you. I love that she loved it as much as I did! :)

Have a great day.

There is no shame in being a copycat -- it's where we get the best ideas -- from someone else!

I love your "new" suitcase, as it works so well with your decor. Isn't it great to repurpose old things to save money? Thanks for showing us what having an open mind to old things can do.
