Hey there friends...the antique chest is done and I can't wait to show you!
After a good cleaning inside and out I removed the two handles it had on the doors so I could add two small key knobs.
Here's the Before...
And now the After...
I used AS chalk paint in Versailles.
When I saw Penny's Mora clock transformation which you can see here I feel in love with this color! It's such a soft green.
I applied clear wax on the entire piece and just added a little of the dark wax along the edges and in the corners to antique it a bit.
Here's how the space looked BEFORE...
Here's how the space looked BEFORE...
Last year I changed out my nightstand for the skirted table from Ballard and now the hubby's side has the antique chest.
You can see how I added the dark wax along the edge.
And a final night time shot.
Thanks so much for stopping by!!

This is my first time visiting, I came over from Penny's The Comfort of Home. We've recently painted a couple of pieces of furniture for the first time, we typically don't paint furniture, and we were really happy with how they turned out. Your bedside cabinet is really pretty and I like the color choice. Nice blog!
ReplyDeleteMartina this is perfect! I'm unfamiliar with the color but what a great choice. Your design and color scheme in your bedroom was so tasteful before but it's even better now!
ReplyDeleteYou didn't say if you already had this or where you found it. I am looking for something like this to put my printer in and close it away! I am hoping that I find something this summer at a garage sale. Love your transformation!

What a beautiful makeover Martina. I love your entire bedroom. Love your bedding too. What a great color for that chest.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful! I have a piece that I would love to do this with, but -- I am so nervous to do it! It was my mom's buffet and I think it would brighten up my dining room so much but I'm afraid I will ruin it. And, I'm not sure what color to do it in either. I want a color that will go with everything! Any suggestions? In fact, better yet, why don't you just come out and help me!
ReplyDeleteHow pretty, I think the paint makes it look more antique than the wood tone did. Beautiful job, Martina.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE it Martina!!!! It looks fantastic! My master bedroom is on the list for some makeovers and changes. I think I have both of those colors you suggested for me! Another question.... should I paint the top too? I'm thinking I should!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful job and love the color!...thanks for explaining the process.
