My Chalk Paint finally Arrived!!

I couldn't wait for this to come, I know it's the new must have paint out here in blogland and now I know why!! LOVE IT! I ordered Paris grey and old white for now and the clear wax. My son's room was the first to get "chalked"!

I was so excited to get started I forgot about taking before shots!

The shelf above his dresser my dad made for me years ago and was stained the same color as his dresser. I did that in the old white and added the clear wax. Next was the narrow dresser in the corner, I had already painted that once before a red but it was to dark so I first painted it in the old white and then brushed on the Paris grey but I let a lot of the white come through.

Here's a better look. I love how the red comes through after I distressed it.

I'm thinking of painting his nightstand in the old white, what do you think?

Even the picture frame got chalked!! I love this stuff!

Now I see why everyone raves about this stuff. I think it's the best paint on the market to paint furniture, and I love how fast it dries. That's a good thing for impatient me!!
Have a great Memorial Day weekend,  Martina

Mushrooms in the Garden

Red Mushrooms?? Well that's what's growing in my garden! I bought these cute metal mushroom spikes in Hobby Lobby last year, the only problem was they blended in so much you could hardly notice them. Nothing a little red spray paint won't fix!

                              Much better don't you think.....

                             Here's how they looked before

This is a little area under our back deck.

I wanted to show you what we had done this weekend. The man who does all our masonary work came and put this stone path in  to our pool. This is something I have wanted to get done since we put the pool in 4 years ago. I think it just finishes it off.

Hope you all are having a good DRY week! Today was the first rain free day we have had in a while. As always I look forward to your visits!  Martina

A little "TWEAKING" in the Master

I know I just showed you guy's my master with the new spring bedding, but after all your help on what color to paint my lamps  I decided to go for it and paint them. I am so glad I did even the hubby noticed them right away and loved how they brightened the space right up! I even added some trim to the lamp shades (burned my thumb with the glue gun in the process, ouch!!) Let's go take a look....

                                               BEFORE

Here's a close up of the AFTER. I sprayed them with heirloom white and distressed them a little just to highlight the detail work on them. I also added a glaze.

                                Much better don't you think.

Added a white duvet at the foot of the bed which I've had for a few years.

Thanks for all your help & have a great weekend!! Can't wait to here from you:)  Martina

The other day when I was in Home Goods and bought the new pillows I also found these beauties! Love the patina on them and all the chippyness ( if that's even a word). Don't know where I'm going to display them just yet but I couldn't pass them up for $7.99 a piece.

SPRING BEDDING

I finally got around to changing our bedding to something lighter and brighter for the spring and summer months. All the bedding and pillows I recently purchased in Home Goods. I love how the white bedding brightens the room up, and I fell in love with these Ralph Lauren pillows so I snatched them right up!

                                       Aren't they purty!

Now I need your HELP! I love the style of these lamps but I want to paint them so they don't look so dark with the dark furniture. I am having a hard time trying to figure out what color to do them in, any suggestions?

One more pillow I wanted to show you that I couldn't pass up for my son's room. It's also by Ralph Lauren, I love the striped pattern on it. Another good shopping trip at Home Goods:)

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great week!!

A Casual Dinner With Family

Last night I had my cousins come over for a visit and a nice casual dinner. It was a night of good food, good wine, and lots of laughs! On the menu was spinach lasagna, salad and dinner rolls. It was delish and it's so easy to make! My tablescape idea was from all the inspiration I get from you guy's! Had a problem with blogger yesterday it deleted this post, anyone else having problems?

My newest rooster from Home Goods and an ivy plant in one of my copper pieces  was used for the centerpiece, along with the candle votive holders I wrapped in burlap.

Chargers came from Nell Hills, green dishes from JC Penny's a few years ago and the yellow salad plates came from Home Goods

Wrapped the silverware in a white paper napkin and tied it with twine. I told you it was casual.

I can't believe how fast the weeks are going! Have a great weekend, and thanks so much for stopping by,  Martina

"Got Mulch"

We had 7yrds of black mulch delivered early this morning, so you know where I was all day until about 5pm! Most of our gardens we used decorative rock but there are still a few areas were we like to break it up with mulch. You might want to grab yourself a glass of ice tea because this is going to be a long one! "WARNING" picture overload!!
                                             Got Mulch

I started with the center island in the front of our house.

We had this sundial from our first house and it has such a nice patina to it now.

This white birch is my favorite tree.

Now I started to work my way down towards the back.

Last but not least I planted these patunias near my mom's entrance, can't wait for them to cascade over the stone wall.

I don't think I ever mentioned how my mom lives here. After my dad passed away my mom sold their house and we had our downstairs turned into a mother/daughter apartment. She has a 1000sq ft apartment that includes a kitchen, liv/din room, bedroom and a full bath. I'll show you guy's it soon! My  mom did all the running with my kids today otherwise this would have never been finishedI told you this was going to be a long one:o) I still have the side garden to mulch but that has to wait till this weekend then I'll show you!  Martina
