SPRING BEDDING
I finally got around to changing our bedding to something lighter and brighter for the spring and summer months. All the bedding and pillows I recently purchased in Home Goods. I love how the white bedding brightens the room up, and I fell in love with these Ralph Lauren pillows so I snatched them right up!
Aren't they purty!
Now I need your HELP! I love the style of these lamps but I want to paint them so they don't look so dark with the dark furniture. I am having a hard time trying to figure out what color to do them in, any suggestions?
One more pillow I wanted to show you that I couldn't pass up for my son's room. It's also by Ralph Lauren, I love the striped pattern on it. Another good shopping trip at Home Goods:)
Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great week!!
Martina

To start with your bed is beutiful with the 4 posts. I love your new spring bedding, the pillows are gorgeous! You did a beautiful job, I just got ideas to freshen mine up, although we live in a speing all year round kind of California type weather, although now it's raining. I love it! I'm also at MM, at BNOTP.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.

Your new bedding looks great. I saw those pillows at Home Goods, too, but didn't need any. They are very nice. I would just paint the lamps white.
ReplyDeleteLooks so pretty Martina! I love those pillows.
ReplyDeleteThe bedding is cute. I would paint the lamps white or buttery yellow from the photos over the bed.
ReplyDeleteI think a creamy white would look nice, Martina. Love your whites on the bed. I like to lighten up our bedding for the warmer months, too.
ReplyDeleteHi Martina,
ReplyDeleteYour room is gorgeous! I love the spring look of it too!
I would paint the lamps a light color. I think they'd pop.
I love all of the pillows! So pretty.
Have a great week!
Pam
What pretty pillows! Your bedroom is so beautiful. Regarding the lamps, I would do them in a light colour, but not a solid colour because it might not show up the pretty ridges, so maybe slightly distressed. (just my 2 cents worth) Have a lovely week. x Sharon
ReplyDeleteMartina, your bedroom looks wonderful! I think we have the same coverlet...I found mine at HomeGoods, too! I'm not sure what colors you have in your master bath, but if you don't have a strong accent color in it, then you lamps would look good painted the a blue/grey or blue/green.
ReplyDeleteMartina, I am doing the same thing....working on pillows to lighten the room for summer. As for the lamps...Heirloom White never disappoints. It's a great old stand by creamy white. Your room is looking nice! Linda
ReplyDeleteThe bedroom is very pretty. Ralph Lauren fabrics are just wonderful. They always catch my eye. On the lamps.....can you swap them out for something else in another room?? Something with a crystal or glass base? You said that this re-do is seasonal. Painting them is so permenant. Thrift stores are filled to the brim with lamps for very few dollars that can be painted as well....just some thoughts.
ReplyDeletehi Martina! This room is beautiful and I love the new bedding and pillows (love HG's!!)
ReplyDeleteQuestion... are the lamp bases brass? couldn't tell for sure in the photo. I actually really like the lamps- and their addition of what looks to be metal (and a hint of shine) in the room! I would (instead of painting) try new lampshades... specifically drum shades. These http://www.ballarddesigns.com/16-inch-couture-drum-shade---seagrass/shades/16-lamp-shades/14028 in seagrass or burlap would add a nice texture in the room. Also, Stacy at Red Door Home just did a post how-to on how to age brass that might be fun for your pulls on the chest of drawers. Could I suggest you try moving the lamps just a tiny bit (about 2") closer to the bed instead of having them centered on the nightstands... I think it might provide a add a bit of softness to balance the perfect symetry of the windows... just a thought!
That striped pillow is perfect on your son's bed!
happy week to you!
joan
Oh I am always afraid to answer decorating questions...but what about the color in the pillows. I can't tell if it is a yellow but that would be so pretty...you could dry brush it on the grooves with the lighter color. Just a thought....
ReplyDeleteLovely Martina and love the pillow for your son's room. His quilt looks like the one my son has.
ReplyDeleteI would paint the lamps white like the chair next to it.
Great job on the pillows...although I have never met a pillow I didn't like! The yellow looks so fresh and new. Goes great with your taupe. Why don't you try that creamy yellow on your lamps? I think it would look stunning. Have a great week and don't work too hard! ~Ann
ReplyDeleteIs your mulch finished? :o)
I especially love the yellow toile pillow. I think the lamps would look pretty an alabaster white and then I would rub on an antiquing glaze to bring out the design. You just rub it on and rub it off until you get the look you like- very simple :)
ReplyDeleteI love the simplicity and elegance of white bedding. Love the pillows! I would go for white or light cream lamps =)
ReplyDeleteLove your new bedding ~ so light and airy for spring and summer. The lamp ~ I would paint it an antique white ~ that way it goes with everything and lightens up the dark wood.
ReplyDeleteHi Martina! I absolutely LOVE your new pillows and all of your Spring bedding. Just gorgeous! I think I would go with a creamy white on your lamps and maybe shades with a little bit of color/pattern? Everything is just so lovely and whatever you decide will be fantastic! :-)
ReplyDeleteVanessa
Love me some Home Goods! The bedding looks great :) I'm with Joan on this one... I think new shades would do the trick!
ReplyDeleteThey certainly are purty!! And so is your bedroom! I wish we had a HomeGoods in my area. About the lamps how about an antique ivory color? Maybe with a little gilding on the edges? Vanna
ReplyDeleteYou pillows are just gorgeous, darling!
ReplyDeleteThe pillows are so pretty! I love both of the bedrooms. Beautifully done!
ReplyDeleteHi Martina! I love it!
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
The white bedding is beautiful and summery! I think the lamps would be pretty in white.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful space! Love it!!!

Your new bedding looks beautiful! Love the pillows.
ReplyDeleteMartina, these are beautiful!! I saw these and fell in love, as well!! They look so lovely in your bedroom!! The RL outlet stores around here closed out the home line from their stores, so I guess that is why we are finding some awesome things at Homegoods! I think I will shop the ones around here and see what else I can find! RL is so well made and the prints are just lovely! Didn't see the stripped one, but love it too!!! Christie at Three Pixie Lane
ReplyDeleteHi Martina, Thank you for your nice comments on my bookcases! Your bedding looks just perfect for the spring and summer months. So pretty and fresh...love the pillows. Kristen
ReplyDeleteYour room looks wonderful...I love the paint color too! Home Goods is a great place to find things here too.I also say, maybe a creamy off white on the lamps...good luck!!
ReplyDeleteHi Martina ~ love your new fresh look for spring and summer. It's amazing how little things like pillows can really change your room.
ReplyDeleteI'm with most everyone on painting the lamps a creamy white.
Have a wonderful day.
Sue
The new bedding is so fresh for spring and summer. Love the look.
ReplyDeleteI have put my bedroom's white spring and summer look on too, but there are other things to do before I show it. On second thought, may it could be done in segments.
Beautiful bedding, Martina!
ReplyDeleteI had to come over since my post is my new Spring bedding too! Love yours, those pillows are gorgeous!!!! As for the lamps, I was thinking a pale green, like a sage green. I really feel it is a very neutral color and would go with anything. XO, Pinky
ReplyDeleteI love all of your pretty pillows! Maybe a coppery color would look nice or one of the metallic paints! ♥
ReplyDeleteYour rice bed and new pillows are beautiful. I would paint the lamp yellow.
ReplyDeleteThat looks gorgeous. Gotta love Home Goods. Thanks for sharing at my Swing into Spring party.
ReplyDeleteI love the color of your walls...everything looks so nice. I might paint them an antique white and then a little distressing.
ReplyDeleteMartina - I love those pillows! I saw the same ones at the Home Goods near me and I really wanted them but I don't really have a place for them. They look so pretty. Your floral prints above your bed are really pretty also. I would probably just paint the lamps a shade of off white or ivory.
ReplyDeleteYour bed looks great! BTW- I gave you an award on my blog today - http://ourfifthhouse.blogspot.com/2011/05/seven-random-things.html
ReplyDeleteVery springy. Love the new pillows.
ReplyDeleteI love all of your Home Goods finds, especially the yellow pillows!
ReplyDeleteHave you thought of doing some kind of gold/gilding on the lamps -- just enough to lighten them, but still allowing the rich color to come through?
I can picture your lamps in white with handmade ribbon lamp shades to add a dash of your favorite color/colors. Your bedroom looks very restful and beautiful as it is now.
ReplyDeleteHi Martina, Thank you so much for joining my party. Your bedroom is beautiful and I love the new pillows. I would dry brush a very light coat of white on the lamps. Take care.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Sherry
I LOVE the white bedding... absolutely perfect! It's amazing how white totally brightens the space and those RL pillows are a fantastic addition! Love your son's striped quilt, too! You are a great shopper!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful room, love the pillows!!!
ReplyDeleteI think the lamps would look good white to match the bedding if this is what you plan to use all the time. However, when I had dark lamps that didn't show with my dark furniture, I bought some Rub N Buff and applied it to the lamps. It gives the lamp just a bit of gleam and lightens the look without the contrast being too stark.
ReplyDeleteI really like your sons bedspread and pillows, where might I buy something similar to the blue plaid quilt?, my nephew would love that.
