A Few Changes in the Family Room

I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend! We are finally having beautiful spring weather here so we were outside working in the yard all day. I wanted to show you a few small changes that I made in my family room. The first change was to the painting above the fireplace. I found this painting in Home Goods last year. It reminds me of a french countryside and I love that, the only thing I wasn't to crazy about was the frame. It's not wood and when you look at it close up you can tell. So it went from looking like this....

                                                To this...

I painted it using the same colors I used on my wall cabinet in my living room, I just went a little heavier on the glaze to make it a little darker.
I distressed the edges to let the original color come thru.

I like it so much better now!

Now onto the next change. My red cabinet that houses our stereo system. I never liked how you can see the equipment inside. I see this done in so many of my country french decorating books and I even seen this done by some of you guys, and I love the look! Here's how it use to look....

And this is how it looks now....
I added chicken wire that I spray painted ORB, and then this linen fabric that I bought in Hobby Lobby.

I love the way it looks!
Some fresh tulips I bought in Walmart today. I lucked out and bought the last two packs! And I used my new urn that I just bought in PB.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by and I always love and appreciate your comments!! Enjoy the rest of your weekend,
                                          Martina

  11. Hi Martina...this is lovely. I have a question about the ORB spray paint. I saw a tutorial that said to spray copper first and then the ORB. Do you think that's necessary to get the look? I am planning to spray some hardware and I'm not sure what route to take. Any advice would be welcome!
    It's a beautiful day here...finally. ~Ann

  20. I love the addition of the chicken wire in your cabinet. Just my opinion, but I prefer electronics hidden anyway, but especially when the covering is as pretty as your new door. Pretty tupilips too!

  35. Amazing changes! The addition of the chicken wire and fabric totally transforms that cabinet.

In a recent issue of Country Living, there was a feature about chicken wire enjoying an increase in popularity. Your pictures make it clear why that is the case. It is just too darn cute!
