Hi there friends...TGIF!
My mom picked this cute chair up at an estate sale.
She loved the rush seat and size...the only thing she didn't like was the color.
An easy fix!
She wanted it painted black...so I pulled out my container of Americana chalk paint in "Carbon" and painted it for her...
What a difference!
Here's how it looked before...
Now this fits her style so much better!!
I even pulled out one of my small stencils and added a little design...
I used antique gold rub & buff.
Then I lightly sanded over it to give it a worn look.
I distressed all along the edges also.
Then I added a coat of clear wax and called it finished!
Mom loves the way it came out :-)
~~~
One more before & after...
Big difference...right!!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Have a great Memorial Day weekend!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great little piece now that you have worked your magic! How many times have we all walked right by little chairs like that -- at least I have because I go to estate sales all the time.
ReplyDeleteNow it has the look of a Hitchcock chair if not the exact details.
So pretty! I just love the stencil!
ReplyDeleteI love it Martina, what a beautiful transformation!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful---very French country! What sort of wax did you use...as in the brand?
You would never know it was the same chair - beautiful job, Martina! I noticed the other day that Walmart carries small containers of chalk paint by Waverly now. I like when you can buy the smaller containers - so great for small projects.
ReplyDeleteWhat a huge difference your painting made, Martina!
ReplyDeleteThe chair went from ho-hum to Wow!!
ReplyDeleteI'm laughing at myself, because at first I thought you painted over the black and was having a heart attack thinking you painted a beautiful antique chair. Then I realized that you painted it black. That says a lot if you fooled me into thinking it was already painted that way. It looks beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful transformation! Love the stenciled detail.
ReplyDeleteOh my, what a beautiful difference! And I love the rush seat:) Happy week! Hugs, Poppy
