Hi there friends...
Remember when I bought the ladder for my master bath I said I came home with a few more goodies...well these old canes and walking stick are them.
I've been looking at these canes every time I go into an antique store and some of them are priced at $60 & $70 a piece!!
~~~
It must have been my lucky day... I got all five for $50!!
When the seller said ten dollars a piece...I said I'll take them all!
The container I've had for a while...I bought it in Hobby Lobby. It's the perfect size and it leaves me room to add a few more ;-)
You got them for a wonderful price, way to go. It's always fun to start a new collection and be on the hunt for those treasured items.
ReplyDeleteWow, you got them for a great price, Martina! I would have snapped them all up, too.
ReplyDeleteThose are nice and I just got some more this weekend for my collection. Yes, they can be pricey and I got a bamboo one just like yours.
ReplyDeleteWay to go! I don't blame you for grabbing all of them. They look pretty there in the jar. It seems that every collection I've ever started began with an inexpensive find like that. It grows from there in cost and numbers but that's part of the fun. :)
ReplyDeleteFantastic collection (& price). LOVE how you have them displayed!
Cool! and that urn is gorgeous too!!
ReplyDeleteThat urn....those canes....awesome together!
ReplyDeleteThey are a fabulous find at such a great price. I love the urn too.
ReplyDeleteThose are GREAT, Martina. It is nice when you can start a collection off with a bang---cuz we all know it takes at LEAST 3 pieces to start a collection. You are already ahead of the game. LOVE that pot they are in. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteNice find, great price. Unfortunately, I have a collection, too, just not as pretty -- mine are functional. Except for two which are very old (they are for looks) I keep them in the garage where I can grab one on the way out. I would like to find a pretty bamboo cane too. Anything in bamboo seems pretty hot right now.
ReplyDeleteWhat a find, Martina!! I love the texture and warm wood they add to your foyer!
ReplyDeleteGreat finds!! Love the urn too!
ReplyDeleteI love them! What a great buy! I have on old cane that was my Dad's and I have been on the look out for more. You are right, the prices are usually so high.
ReplyDeleteGreat find! I like your new collection and it looks good in the container by the door.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty and you are right about the price.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great price for all of those, Martina! I would have taken them all, too. Love the container, as well. I need to make a trip to Hobby Lobby!
ReplyDeleteGreat collection. I love them too! xo
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful collection idea! Looks perfect in your corner.
ReplyDeleteFabulous canes at a fabulous price! Love how you have them displayed!
Martina, this is a fun collection, and the up side is that it doesn't take up much space. '-)
ReplyDeleteGreat find!
If only I had known to keep my grandpa's, grandma's and aunt's canes!
ReplyDeleteFun collection!
What a great find! I used to look for them too...same thing..pricey. Is the one with the rounded end a blackthorn? The urn is perfect for holding the walking sticks. Now, you have me wanting to look for new ones. :)
ReplyDeleteI have canes too. First one, then someone gave me a couple, then I started seeing them in free boxes at garage sales, and pretty soon my umbrella stand was full of canes and I can never find an umbrella!
ReplyDeleteI collected some walking sticks and canes years ago. I don't have but a few, but they're down in my basement. I have a bamboo one like yours too. They look pretty in your pottery piece.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful collection to have!
ReplyDeleteFun collection, Martina!
ReplyDeleteI love cane collections! I have wanted to put one by the front door forever! When the oldest two move out maybe I can reclaim my house again. Congrats on you littlest's First Communion!
Martina what a great collection and fantastic price. My hubby has a walking stick directly from Ireland that friend brought back for him. It is gorgeous.
