Out with the Old in with the New!

Hey there friends...hope you all had a great weekend!
~~~
As I mentioned in my last post this January marked 11 years for us in this house.
Many changes have been made in the last 11 years to make this home reflect more of our own style. This past weekend another renovation got started...it's something we've been thinking about for a while now.
~~~
Three years ago we ripped out the carpeting in our family room and replaced it with this beautiful Brazilian Koa hardwood. We love it so much we decided to add it throughout the whole first floor!!

It's working its way all the way into our powder room.

I'm lucky to have a cousin who's a contractor and will be doing the work for us!
He's a perfectionist so I know the job will get done right!
~~~
This front sitting room/study is the only room downstairs that we aren't adding it too.
 We just replaced the carpeting in here 2 years ago and I really like it...I also like the cozy feel it gives the room.
Sorry... by the time I thought to take a better picture... this room was already jam packed with furniture from the other rooms!!
~~~
This is going to be a big and messy job and I know it's going to take at least a month to be complete being he's only working here on the weekends...but I'm going to be thrilled with the results!!
I can't wait to see these boxes get opened!!
I'll keep you all posted on the progress:)
~~~
Thanks so much for stopping by!
  2. So exciting! It is going to really transform your rooms. We replaced our first floor floors a year ago and though it was a messy process, the end results were fantastic. Looking forward to seeing your beautiful floors! Enjoy the process too! Jane
  10. How nice, Martina, your whole space will feel and look so much larger when the flooring is all the same. Our first floor was so chopped up for years with carpet, linoleum and hardwood. I was so glad when we got the hardwoods. You are way more patient than me with it taking a month. Ours took two weeks because the guy didn't order enough floor and I was going nuts waiting.
  12. A long job, lots of mess and time....but well worth it!
    We just recently (6 mos) replaced our carpet in the main living areas with wood....ahhhh....
    It is extraordinary how such a job can change the demeanor of a house! People who have known us even asked if we remodeled! No, just the floor....
    Enjoy! It always makes a house feel better when the floor is the same throughout!
I know your home is probably crazy with this going on right now but it will be worth it.In our last house replaced our whole house with wood floors(well actually except our laundry and two of our bathrooms).But we did it all at once.We have to move every thing out of our house including the closets.What a mess,what a job but it was so worth it!
