Hi friends!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! The desk is done and is finally in it's new home!!
Remember the Before...
Not only was this my first Craigslist purchase but also my first time using milk paint.
MMS Lucketts green is such a pretty color and I love it even more when the dark wax is applied.
I wanted antique looking knobs, I found these online at my knobs.com.
I didn't want this piece super chippy, so I added the bonding agent when I mixed the paint. I did however do a few small areas without it just to see what would happen and I was happy with the result. I also needed a spot to hide the tower, so the hubs removed the two draws that were here and it was a perfect fit!
I sanded the old finish off the top using my electric hand sander, and restained it in a dark walnut.
A Before & After...
Love how this piece turned out!
Now I just have to find a small antique chair and a small lamp, have the hubby hook my new computer up and this will be my new spot to blog.
Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Well folks it's exactly one week today that I started this desk makeover and I'm still NOT finished!! It's NEVER taken me this long to redo a piece a furniture!
Here's a little peek...
...this was my first time using milk paint. I used MMS Lucketts Green along with the dark antiquing wax.
I added the bonding agent because I wasn't going for the super chippy look on this piece, just lightly distressed. But, I was curious to try a drawer without it just to see what would happen. The top drawer is the one I painted without adding the bonding agent, it didn't chip too much.
As for the top of the desk, I used my little electric hand sander to remove the old finish and I stained it dark walnut. Ignore the streaks I took this pic right after I stained it.
And here's a peek of the new hardware.
I should have a full reveal in a few days!
Thanks so much for stopping by, have a great week!
Remember when I mentioned I was on the hunt for a desk for our new computer? Well I finally found one on Craigslist. It was the perfect size and for $100 it was the perfect price too! It's solid maple and it weighs a ton!!
It's getting a whole new look, and that includes a few cosmetic changes too.
I'm using MMS milk paint for the first time, the color I picked is Lucketts Green.
First up, filling in all the holes and getting all the drawers painted.
I was hoping this was going to be a makeover that only took a day or two. NOT HAPPENING! I'm hoping to have it done by the weekend, I'll keep you posted!
What projects are you working on this week?
~Warming up the Master Bedroom~
With the cooler months upon us, it was time to switch my summer bedding to something with warmer tones.
The coverlet and shams I've had, they came from Linen Source the color ivory. The duvet is new from Pottery Barn, it was on clearance the pattern is Graciela Palampore, & the monogrammed velvet pillow is from Ballards in Latte.
At first I folded the duvet at the foot of the bed but it hid so much of the pretty pattern, so I opened it up. I like it so much better this way.
The check table skirt goes great with it. I changed the vignette up a bit too.
I bought the vase in Home Goods over the summer and just added some feathers and twigs.
Another new pillow on the chair too, I can't help myself;)
See the highboy in the mirror below. I'm thinking of painting it, to break up all the dark furniture in here.
The vignette on my dresser pretty much stayed the same, I just pulled this bird print out that I had stored away and layered it against my mirror. I like this look.
Note to self....update kids picture!
I hope you enjoyed the little tour of my "Winter" master bedroom! Thanks so much for stopping by, your visits & sweet comments make my day!
