Another French Find!

 Hi there friends...hope you all had a nice weekend!
~~~
It seems like a weekend cannot go by without me making a trip to the indoor flea market!!
 There's five or six vendors I visit regularly...most of them being furniture vendors.
~~~
This french beauty came home with me this past weekend...

I love the high back!
 The cane on the back and seat is in perfect condition.

 This chair replaced the wicker chair I had over here...
moved that one to a new location...nothing like playing a round of musical chairs ;-)

I LOVE this chair!
I also picked up a copy of the latest Country French magazine...look at the chair on the front cover!
 It came with this cushion...I'm going to have a new one made for it.
Already found the perfect fabric!
~~~
 I feel like I hit the jackpot on my last two visits...chippy green shutters...a pretty painting on canvas...and now this french beauty!
I really need to stay away from that place lol!
Have a great week and thanks for stopping by!
A Weathered Finish
 Hi there friends TGIF!!
~~~
With the kids still home I'm enjoying the last few weeks we have left with them before the hustle and bustle of school begins!
 I did manage to fit in a little project this week!
This is something that has been bugging me for quite sometime...I just wasn't sure what type of change I wanted to make to it.
 The change was to the curio I have in our upstairs hall.
Here's the before...
I painted this oak piece before my blogging days so I don't have any pictures of how it looked when we first bought it.
 And here it is after it's second makeover...
 I was thinking of repainting it...but after I got it down in the garage I had one of those light bulb moments lol!!
I got out my coarse sanding block and started to sand away and I was loving the results.
By sanding most of the paint off it...it gave this piece a weathered worn finish...LUV!!

Now let's have a look on the inside...
As much as I would love to fill this piece with old books and white ironstone the pieces in here have to much of a sentimental value to me so I can't part with them.
 When I started to add everything back in I decided to add some of my old leather books for a more vintage feel.

 My three kiddos silver baby cups...yes I like the tarnished look...it drives my mom crazy!

 Look at those pretty claw feet!
 I bought this pretty french country rooster urn in Florida a few years ago.
 I didn't have to buy a thing for this vignette...I just went and shopped my storage room!
I actually forgot about that brass lamp...we bought it in our first house and it hasn't made an appearance in this house until now.

 The best part of this makeover is that it cost me nothing...gotta love those kind of projects!!
 More changes to come up here so stay tuned!
~~~
Thanks so much for stopping by have a super weekend!
Going in a different direction...for now!
 Hi there friends...
I'm still playing around with my flea market finds and decided to take a different "decorating" direction...does that ever happen to you?!?
I headed to Hobby Lobby on Monday like I said to get my new canvas framed. When I was half way there I realized I forgot the canvas!!! You all know what that meant...NO framed canvas:-(
 So when I came home I played around with it for awhile and decided for now I really like the way it looks just leaning against the chippy shutters in my living room.
 I like the layered look it gave this corner of the room.
 So for now this is the direction I'm taking...and I'm happy with it!
~~~
Tomorrow we are hosting a pool party/bbq for 30 teenagers!!
My oldest daughter wanted to get her class together one last time before they all go off to high school in September!
Good friends...Good food...Lot's of fun!

Flea Market Finds

Hi there friends...I hope you all had a fabulous weekend!
~~~
My mom and I went out early yesterday morning and our first stop was to the indoor flea market.
I came home with lots of goodies!!
There was a vendor right outside the main entrance...he had all these pretty oil paintings lined up against the building. My mom and I both headed straight to this beauty!
I'm heading to Hobby Lobby tomorrow to have it framed.
Yes another demijohn came home with me...this one stands almost 20in high. The lady was asking $8.00 for it but I got it for $6.00!!
I still can't believe I paid $100 for my first two!!
My mom bought this cute little brass tray for me...
and another glass insulator...it's the darker one on the right.
She also bought me this small red transferware platter...it will be added to the wall in my dining room.
I want to add a few more pieces around the mirror.
Last but not least... I spotted these chippy green shutters and knew they had to come home with me!!
I plan on using them in my living room...still playing around with the best placement...but I LOVE the look!!
~~~
Thanks so much for stopping by...
Have a super week!!

~Antique Lamp in the Living Room~

Hi there friends...Happy Wednesday!
I have to tell ya... my absolute favorite antique store is the one I found in Connecticut near the hubbies back doctor. I never leave there empty handed... their prices are great too!!
They never disappoint...they always have great furniture and salvage pieces along with other goodies.
~~~
On this last trip I came home with this pretty antique lamp.
I thought the small shell shades looked so pretty on it.
I had the owner check the lamp to make sure it worked before I brought it home.
  I did a happy dance (in my head of course) when I saw the light come on!
The lamp was not the only change here...I pulled the red urn I ordered from Luckett's last year out of storage and added an ivy plant to it.
I love the new look on this chest!
A before and after...
Thanks so much for stopping by!
I'm having company today for lunch so I better go get myself ready!
